C-LINUX

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026

C-LINUX is a news and editorial site covering Chinese Linux distributions and open-source technology. You can read everything we publish without creating an account or telling us who you are, so the short version of this policy is: we collect very little, and what we do collect exists to run the site and answer the messages you send us. The sections below spell out exactly what that means.

Information we collect

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the email address you enter — nothing else. If you write to us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to include. Beyond that, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard server logs: IP address, browser type, the pages you visited, and the site that referred you. These logs are how virtually every website keeps itself running and secure.

How we use it

  • Send the newsletter you asked for, and nothing you didn't.
  • Reply to questions, corrections, and collaboration requests sent through the contact form.
  • Keep the site online, diagnose errors, and understand which articles readers find useful.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not run third-party advertising networks, and we do not build reader profiles. Information is shared only with the service providers that make the site work — our web host and email delivery tools — and, if the law ever requires it, with authorities.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of cookies for functional purposes, such as remembering your theme preference. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the articles will still read fine without them.

Your choices

Every newsletter email includes a way to unsubscribe, and one request is all it takes. You can also ask us to show you, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you — email us and we'll handle it. Depending on where you live, local privacy law may give you additional rights, and we honor those requests too.

Retention and security

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as the conversation needs. Server logs rotate automatically. We use reasonable safeguards to protect what we hold, though no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

C-LINUX is written for a general technical audience and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Questions about this policy or your information can go to info@clinux.org or through the contact page.
